My laptop is new and i can do windows 7,8, and 10 on it with that being said ive tried 7 and 10 just not 8. Also with all said and done it has told me that it was a old version of a usb power cord something like it was a 2. If you already tried using different USB cord and the issue still occur, this could be an issue with your device connecting to a Windows 10 computer.
